Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
I'm bringing the iMac into the shop to fix the Ethernet port, so this blog will be offline for a few days.

How to enter a room, à la Underworld:
Take long, determined strides through the blue light in your fabulous, powerful, chunky boots. Avoid stepping on the camera on its dolly a foot off the ground, dogging your steps. If the door is a double door, fling both doors open dramatically to the sound of the crashing chords of the score. Step out of the rain into more blue light.
If the door is a single door, with one mighty step in your fabulous boots, kick the door in. Then proceed as above.

Autumn has snapped here. Yesterday, we all went around wishing that we'd worn our jackets. This morning felt like a good day to switch the home HVAC over to heating mode. No doubt it'll be ninety degrees again next week.

Sad news for transit geeks: the car barn at the National Capital Trolley Museum in outer Silver Spring, Maryland burned over the weekend. Several cars were lost. Looks like the museum will be closed for several months as a result. I'm glad that Leta and I got a chance to visit last year. It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours: ride the streetcar out and back through the woods, check out the exhibits.
