pedantic nuthatch

the chorister's c is my home page, relocated from Yahoo! GeoCities to my new host after almost six years there. pedantic nuthatch is my blog, initiated in February, 2003.

Made on a Mac I build these pages on Dedalus, a 1.8 GHz dual G5 Macintosh with 1 GB of RAM, running Mac OS X 10.3, and Bloom, a 600 MHz G3 iMac with 256 MB of RAM, running Mac OS 9.1. I take snapshots with a Nikon Coolpix 3200, and I occasionally use a Nikon N4004s; walking around town, I take notes on a Palm Tungsten E2 organizer and on Rhodia orange pads (the French vellum paper feels sexy). I have a Tungsten T that I keep around for the voice memo feature: I like it better than the E2, but I just can't keep the digitizer aligned. Other hardware includes a UMAX Astra 4000U for scans and Logitech trackballs.

For HTML editing, I'm using TextEdit, as well as PageSpinner 4.6 for its limited file-include facilities; for graphics, I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 and an ancient copy of Adobe Photoshop 4.0. Flickr provides hosting.

I check my pages with Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (on Microsoft Windows). I make limited use of style sheets. The site should look okay with earlier browsers; if something looks grievously wrong, drop me a line.

The theme for the blog is adapted from jenett.radio.console.v1.1 by jenett.radio.

Plant an E-Tree I've used fonts from Monotype, ITC, and Emigre. Some of the dingbats are from Don Synstelien's Mondõ Kaizen. I've also used Hilde Sharpie (it's free) from Chank Diesel and Hilde Skjølberg and Dialtone (also free) from dincTYPE. A couple of the Wood Duck images are from Corbis.
