Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
Take me back to Crestview: Chicago's Goodman Theatre presents a David Mamet festival, including his children's play The Revenge of the Space Pandas, or Binky Rudich and the Two-Speed Clock.

Back from a quick road trip to see Leta's aunt Dotty and former roommate Mary in Cleveland. Dotty took us to hear the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra in the marvelous floral jewel box that is Severance Hall (and showed us the Easter egg in the lobby's mosaic floor). Michael Tilson Thomas led the home team through a couple of rarely-performed pieces by Aaron Copland, including the stunning Symphonic Ode (1929-1932 and revised later). In prefatory remarks from the podium, the maestro pointed out how the insistent rhythms of the piece anticipate 1970's minimalism. Dotty also gamely tagged along with us through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, an uneven experience heavily weighted by whatever artifacts the curators had managed to secure.
