Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
Jumpers, by Tom Stoppard, directed by Kathleen Akerley, Washington Shakespeare Company, Arlington, Virginia
A disappointing outing for WSC and Akerley, who has done well recently with some of Stoppard's shorter works.
The "shabby chic" production values are endearing, and Mark Casale has rigged a nifty projection system with a circular image for the TV and "dermatograph."
But the show's pace is too slow and the gags take too long to develop; it's dragged down by David Bryan Jackson (George Moore), who just hasn't made all of Stoppard's words his own.
