Yikes! it's cold.

We're expecting a run with full costumes tonight. Sally gave me a tin whistle to futz with during the semi-improv'd pre-show in the tavern, so I'm going to try to pick out the chorus of "Gypsy Rover" on it—fortunately I found some sheet music in the same key. The last time I had to play a woodwind onstage my director Roxanne was about ready to make me swallow it, I was such a slow study.

Hey, it's freezing in here!

Designing entrances and exits in the Industrial Strength is always a challenge. There are two entrances stage left, one through a little green room/dressing/properties area, and one into the lobby. The green room and the lobby also share a connecting door. Stage right leads to a fire door into an interior hall that connects all the units in the complex. So if you're off left and you need to be ready for an entrance on the right side, you have to exit the building through the lobby, scamper about fifteen yards to the door to the workshop/costume loft, pass through that space to the interior hall, and come in through the fire door. I've plotted out where I need to be, and I will be called on to make that 15-yard dash through the 15° weather three times in the course of each performance. And we're expecting snow tomorrow.

It would have been five times, but I was able to hand off a spear-carrying role (box-carrying, actually) to new arrival Dan. The costume change in between entrances, combined with the scurry through the shop, was just not doable.

And it's not like the interior hall is all that toasty warm, either. Producer Eileen has put out the word to bring in space heaters.

Cast members have come and gone in the course of rehearsals. Our lineup is now: me, Evan, Todd, Bruce W., Sally, Jack, Lanny, Jake, Chris, Kristin, Maura, Mike, Brian, a new Dan, Scott, and G.

Did I mention it was cold?
