Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
Voiceover work by Bill Kurtis and an uncredited cameo by Jack Black can't spark this by-the-numbers satire of local TV news in the 1970s, Anchorman.
Christina Applegate deserves recognition for making her period wardrobe look good; remember, this was the time of wrap dresses and fabrics that looked like motel room drapes. Steve Carell shows promise as Brick Tamland, the weatherman who's a few hailstones shy.
But this arbitrary, choppy, overwrought movie is generally comedy-free.
