Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
Aha! Here's the explanation:
Newer browsers such as Internet Explorer 5 for Mac, Netscape 6, and Mozilla use a standards-compliant rendering for HTML 4.01 Transitional documents that include the URI of the DTD in the DOCTYPE. These browsers use a "quirks" mode to emulate rendering bugs in older browsers if the URI is omitted:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
The blog template that I adapted from Jenett unintentionally depends on Gecko's quirks mode. I always wondered why the page looked bad different under IE.

I'm doing a little maintenance to the blog templates for web standards compliance. The unintended consequence is that the sidebar layout is going south on me. Hang on.

Just go see The Incredibles. You'll laugh your butt off. Just don't wear a cape.
I love how sound is subtly used in the film, softly ringing telephones down the hall, things like that. Most of the water animations are fabulous, and the lava wall looks natural. But Pixar still hasn't achieved realistic hair.
