Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
Woody Irvin reports that a ribbon-cutting for the completion of 38 miles of the Cross County Trail in Fairfax County will take place on December 17.
It turns out that the Trail runs through Eakin Park in the central part of the county, so I've walked a short section of it, thanks to a field trip with the Northern Virginia Bird Club last week. And, of course, I've walked the section where the Cross County shares the path of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail through Reston.
Reflecting the fact that the Cross County was stitched together from a lot of segments of other trails, the Cross County trends southwest to northeast through Reston, but it follows the W&OD on a southeasterly path.
Ah, and I see that my local birding patch along the Glade streambed is now designated as part of the Cross County.
